Wolfgang Blau is the chief digital officer of Condé Nast International with responsibility for the digital growth of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Wired and other famous media brands in 11 countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. He is a frequent keynote speaker at journalism conferences around the world.

Prior to joining Condé Nast International, Wolfgang was the Director of Digital Strategy for The Guardian, reporting directly to The Guardian‘s global editor-in-chief as well as to the CEO of Guardian News & Media. He has also been serving on the company’s executive committee. He had the editorial lead for relaunching the websites and digital tools for the Guardian’s British, American and Australian operations which have won numerous awards since being launched. He initiated The Guardian’s new International edition and the Climate Publishers Network, a content sharing alliance of news organisations from more than 30 countries.

Before joining The Guardian, he served as editor-in-chief of Zeit Online for five years, the sister publication of the weekly German newspaper Die Zeit with its own digital newsroom in Berlin. He was named Germany’s editor-in-chief of the year for his work at Zeit Online. From 1999 to 2007, Wolfgang worked as a technology and media reporter in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
