El País
David Alandete is managing editor at El País, the world’s leading newspaper in Spanish, both in print and online. In 2013 and 2014 he was the paper’s middle east correspondent based in Jerusalem reporting on the Israeli – Palestinian conflict. He also traveled to Damascus and refugee camps in Jordan to cover the Syrian civil war, as well as Egypt to cover the end of the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood. From 2006 to 2012, Alandete was El País’ US correspondent at their Washington bureau. He covered two presidential campaigns and was an accredited journalist in the State Department, the Pentagon and Congress. Previously, in 2011, David travelled to Kabul to report on the 10th anniversary of the military operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan. He also visited the detention camp in the Guantanamo Naval Base to cover the detainees’ trials.
