Vasily Gatov is a Russian media researcher and practitioner, visiting fellow at University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism (Center on Communication Leadership and Policy). With a career in journalism and media management spanning over thirty years, Gatov writes on various subjects from media and communications theory, to history of censorship. He led the RIA Novosti Media Lab (2011-2013), the R&D arm of RIA Novosti, where he started the research on internet bots, trolls, fake news and other issues of current importance.
