Andreas Mailath-Pokorny studied law and political science at Vienna University, as well as international relations at the Bologna Centre of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. His professional career includes positions as Head of the Office of the Austrian Federal Chancellor (1988-1996), Head of the Arts Division in the Austrian Federal Chancellory (1996-2001) and, since April 27, 2001, Executive City Councillor and State Minister for Cultural Affairs, Science and Sports in Vienna. President of of the “Bund Sozialdemokratischer AkademikerInnen, Intellektueller und KünstlerInnen” (BSA) since 2010.
